چکیده
Photon Counting Detectors (PCDs) open new opportunities in X-ray imaging. Pixie III is a PCD using simultaneously two energy thresholds. This enables to acquire images distinct bins single exposure and allows perform K-Edge Subtraction (KES) imaging with laboratory sources. In that context, one has however deal an bin optimization: narrow lead high KES signal at the expense of higher noise, while wider poor but better statistics. work presents model aims finding optimal thresholds source voltage order retrieve best Contrast Noise Ratio (CNR) for given sample. The also optimizes parameters conventional absorption modality compares both modalities. Since input flux difference between influence image this included phenomenological laws. then compared empirical optimization by experimental screening materials composed barium, iodine water. Finally, it explained how sample composition on predicted CNR values.

K-edge subtraction imaging using a pixellated energy-resolving detector
This paper presents preliminary work aimed at assessing the feasibility of K-edge subtraction imaging using the spectroscopic information provided by a pixellated energy-resolving Cadmium Zinc Telluride detector, having an active area of 20x20 pixels 250 m in size. Images of a test object containing different amounts of Iodine-based contrast agent were formed above and below the K-edge of Iodin...
متن کاملX-ray Imaging Using a Hybrid Photon Counting GaAs Pixel Detector
The performance of hybrid GaAs pixel detectors as X-ray imaging sensors were investigated at room temperature. These hybrids consist of 300 μm thick GaAs pixel detectors, flip-chip bonded to a CMOS Single Photon Counting Chip (PCC). This chip consists of a matrix of 64 x 64 identical square pixels (170 μm x 170 μm) and covers a total area of 1.2 cm. The electronics in each cell comprises a prea...
متن کاملX-ray Photon Counting and Two-Color X-ray Imaging Using Indirect Detection
In this paper, we report on the design and performance of a 1 cm², 90 × 92-pixel image sensor. It is made X-ray sensitive by the use of a scintillator. Its pixels have a charge packet counting circuit topology with two channels, each realizing a different charge packet size threshold and analog domain event counting. Here, the sensor's performance was measured in setups representative of a medi...
متن کاملSingle Photon Counting X-Ray Imaging Through Gigabit Ethernet Transmission
High-performance computing capability enabled the development of a multi-energy X-ray imaging system which includes a data-acquisition, preprocessing and transmission module, followed by image reconstruction module. The data acquisition, pre-processing and transmission module are located at the pixel sensor side, and the image reconstruction is completed by using a GPU on a host PC. Thus, it re...
